Why do you love West Hollywood?

West Hollywood is a unique and diverse city that offers a warm and welcoming community for all of its residents. It's the most walkable city in California (Walkscore 89), and offers great shopping, restaurants, and world-famous nightlife as well as quieter residential streets and parks.

Two golden nuggets you know now that you wish you knew as a new resident?

Residential permit parking works for you, not against you, take advantage of guest passes. The Pacific Design Center has really great open house evenings, and all of the designers and staff are really friendly.

Two fun facts about West Hollywood

Past grand marshals of the LA gay pride parade include Paris Hilton, Kathy Griffin and Cyndi Lauper. West Hollywood became the second city in the United States to change the term pet "owner" to pet "guardian."

How is street parking around the city?

Residential areas have zoned permit parking. Four parking permit decals per address are allowed, and residents are able to purchase two guest permits. You are also able to request guest permits with a 24-hour limit if you are having a larger party at your home.

Family-friendly atmosphere?

Yes, West Hollywood thrives on welcoming all residents, including families, and has many parks. Plummer Park, a multi-cultural park has just had major upgrades to its playground, restrooms, picnic areas, basketball courts, and community pool.

Are there mostly family run or corporate chain establishments?

Although there are a national restaurant chains, there are mostly upscale local chains and individual restaurants ranging from casual brunch to fine dining.

City Safety

The best ways to find out about the crime rate is on the LA Times local maps area, or at the local West Hollywood Sherrif's dept crime map. Other resources are: Neighborhood Watch program, National Night Out, and the City of West Hollywood Public Safety Department.

Renting Advice

The City of West Hollywood is rent controlled and many landlords are pet-friendly.

Lifestyle

West Hollywood is full of active people. There are many city parks, lots of gyms and private training studios, and yoga studios. On any given day, you'll see joggers, walkers and strollers on every major street.

Transportation

West Hollywood is approximately 1.9 square miles. It's easy to get around on foot or bike, and Metro bus system and community DASH buses are safe, easy and environmentally friendly.
